We need a few large coolers for the IG Challenge on Sunday. We don’t need any additional small coolers, but if you have a large cooler we can borrow, please drop it by the gym today or Saturday.
Hey 919ers, we’ve got a lot of new faces in the gym so now is the perfect time to bring back our Athlete Profiles!! First up is Sarah Fletcher, a faithful member of the 4:30 class. Many of you know Sarah and her husband, Andrew (“Fletch”), but for those of you who don’t, read on for the inside scoop: What do you like most about CrossFit? I love that CrossFit continually challenges me – there is always another skill or progression to master or more weight to add. I also love the variety of workouts – I never get bored. I also really enjoy getting to know the people that I workout with. What is your least favorite CrossFit exercise? I’m not a huge fan of anything that puts me upside down. Where are you from and where did you go to college? I grew up in Durham (up in the northern part of the county, near Bahama, if you know where that is). I went to college at Carolina (and grad school at Duke but we don’t really like to talk about that). What do you do / where do you work? I am a youth pastor at Highland United Methodist in Raleigh. Basically I hang out with middle school and high school kids all the time and they tell me all the many details of their lives and show me ridiculous youtube videos. It’s the best. What do you do for fun (other than lift big weights!): I love to travel, I love to bake and then give what I make away so that we don’t eat an entire batch of cookies alone, and generally in my spare time I can be found with my nose in a book (seriously, I read like 4 books a week). I also spend quite a bit of time hanging out with my fluffy dog Grover, going on walks and hanging out at the park.
